So I was stopping by the Huffpo and reading about the Woman’s March in DC and all the sister Marches all around the country and the world, and then I saw their representation of OKC March.
First of all, that picture is so far away from the state capital you cannot see the marchers. I was there. They were expecting 7,000 marchers, it looked to me to be more than that, maybe closer to 10 thousand. I didn't have my phone but I know that there are pictures out there of the OKC March and it was more than just 2 little girls. It started at 10 and went on til 2pm
Here are some photos from OU Daily
It irritates me that the Huffington Post would leave such a misleading picture and statement out, as if no one in Oklahoma showed up. What is the point of doing that? Other than to convince anyone who missed the march, that no one showed up? WTF? To see what I mean—Count 18 images down on the Huffpo Story.
It brought tears to my eyes to see the thousands of men and women and children there marching for women’s rights and equality. This is a deeply red state, and it can be very lonely for a Democrat, but especially for liberal women who are feminists. Red states are where you want to encourage turnout to these events, and that picture of the huffpo does just the opposite. They are alone because they are blocks away from the designated area of the march, so far in fact you cannot make out details on the capitol building. Which if you had been in the march, you would have remained well within sight of the capitol building and able to make out the architectural details with or without glasses. We marched to 18th street, those people are nearly at 13th street, maybe even 10th street.

I am not expecting much from local mainstream news as far as fair coverage of the march. I expect most of their photos to angle away from the larger crowds and focus on areas with sparser numbers of people so as to downplay the excellent protest that took place this morning through the afternoon. I also don’t expect them to try to even count the marchers. Because if they did so, then their conservative customers might think that someone at the editor's desk cares, and well that could lead to dancing.
Women’s rights in Oklahoma are not taken seriously and feminism is treated openly with hostility, and is subject to all manner of stereotypes taken straight from the R. L. show (rhymes with Flush). Here it’s more common to see crazy legislation telling doctors to assault their patients with wands before women can opt to terminate a pregnancy. Or to create a data collection system for women terminating pregnancies. This is where we let a veterinarian write legislation governing the services of midwives. This is not a good place to be a woman. At times it can feel like one is between the devil and the deep blue sea. The choices you have left are miniscule and not good.
Honestly I expected to show up and see maybe 500 people. That wouldn't have surprised me in the least. So to see thousands of people supporting women's rights and equality was an amazing surprise. As we marched down Lincoln Blvd to 18th street and back around to the state capitol, the two lane road was packed curb to curb with people.
Even if this were all the progressives in the entire state, it’s still 7000+ people you didn’t know about, that are on your side. Women are already silenced here on a regular basis, we don’t need any help in that direction.
Thank you to all the good people who marched and all those good peopleM who organized these marches.
Thank you so very much.

After looking at these huge turnouts all over the entire world, it occurs to me that the Trumpster has done something no one else has been able to do for quite some time: Unite the World.
There were marches in the Middle East, Africa, South America, New Zealand, Australia, all over Europe, Canada, Antartica, Alaska where it was 21 below. Just wow.
People feel so threatened by his demeanor and his notions of policy and governance, that women all over the world marched with US Women, in protest of the problems that plague us all. The problem is, we used to be making progress on these things here in the states, and it used to be we were a sort of good example. Now not so much. It’s like the sign said on one photo: Prepare to Turn Back your Clock 300 Years.
