That's ALDBB for short, by the way.
The Wisconsin progressive blog Blue Cheddar is reporting that Democratic insiders are reportedly telling Tom Barrett that he can run for Governor of Wisconsin in 2014:
There are elections to come – for Wisconsin Supreme Court in the spring and of course the big kahuna – the gubernatorial race of 2014. Tom Barrett is right now being told he can run again. Let me be that contentious voice saying “NO, TOM. YOU’RE DONE.” We need a better candidate this go-around.
As a Faygo-drinking, labor union-supporting Illinoisan who has probably been more outspoken against Scott Walker's extreme agenda than any other outside agitator, I say, HELL NO YOU CAN'T, BARRETT!!!
Tom Barrett has lost to Scott Walker not once but twice in Wisconsin gubernatorial elections. While Tom Barrett has served the City of Milwaukee well as its mayor, he is, to say the least, a bad statewide candidate. Tom Barrett is going to be perceived by swing voters as a perennial gubernatorial candidate, much more so than he was during the recall election several months ago, if he runs for a third time.
Wisconsin Democrats need a candidate that can...
1) connect with voters all across Wisconsin
2) build a rock-solid statewide ground game
3) not be afraid to call out Scott Walker for his blatant disregard for Wisconsin's traditions of good government and protection of the basic rights of the people
4) run a dedicated campaign all the way to Election Day.
That candidate is NOT Tom Barrett, nor is it Russ Feingold, for that matter (remember his 2010 "campaign" for U.S. Senate against Ron Johnson, anyone?). If you have any suggestions as to who would be the best gubernatorial candidate to run against Scott Walker, please mention him or her in the comments section.
