For those of you who read the review I did Monday of Gillian Robert's Amanda Pepper mysteries take a look at the email I just got! She and her children are Kossacks!
Dear Michele Wilson,
On behalf of my criminally-minded alter-ego, Gillian Roberts, thank you for
making my day and probably my year!
I am too dense to figure out how to comment on Daily Kos about your incredible
review of the Amanda Pepper books, so I've taken this more circuitous route. I
wanted you to know how much your words meant to me. I have most often been
reviewed for the humor, so it really thrilled me to have you also make note of
the more serious ideas and issues I was trying to deal with.
Thank you, thank you! You've even given me points with my children who not only
liked the review, but were impressed that it was on "such a great site."
In full answer to one of the comments: I am alive and well and have only
recently finished (I hope) the "challenge" and "something different" I said I
wanted. After years of the most difficult research I've ever had to do, I've now
learned to believe that "careful what you wish for" cliché, as I wait to see
whether my agent likes "The Heretic's Boy." It takes place in Mexico in 1649,
the year of the Inquisition's largest auto-da-fé there... There is a dead body
and a mystery but it's really (I hope) about religious intolerance and what
happens when Church and state are close to one and the same. After this, I am
returning to the present time, and (again I hope) some humor in whatever I
write.
Once again, thank you for that lovely review. Please know that I cherish your
words more than you could possibly enjoy mine.
With every good wish, your fan
Judy Greber, aka Gillian Roberts
